AirsoftParts TECAFORM 2013 piston head is a CNC-machined component for AEG air seal systems, made from TECAFORM (POM) engineering plastic. Weighing just 8.7 g, it helps keep the moving mass of the piston assembly low, while the manufacturer recommends use with springs up to M150. The front features 9 holes through which air flows beneath the main sealing O-ring during compression. The pressure expands it against the cylinder wall and promotes effective sealing. A second guide O-ring helps center the piston head inside the cylinder and reduces unwanted contact with the cylinder wall. Another important design feature is the locking nut passing through the center of the piston head, which distributes the clamping force over a larger area and reduces the risk of the mounting screw being pulled out of the POM body. The integrated axial ball bearing allows the spring to rotate more freely during compression and reduces torsional stress. The manufacturer states compatibility with V2, V3 and V7 gearboxes. Made in the Czech Republic.
The CNC-machined TECAFORM (POM) construction weighs just 8.7 g, helping to keep the moving mass of the piston assembly low.
The main O-ring provides pressure-assisted sealing of the piston inside the cylinder, while the second guide O-ring helps center the piston head and reduces contact with the inner cylinder wall.
The 9 front holes direct air beneath the sealing O-ring during compression, expanding it against the cylinder wall and helping to properly seal the piston assembly.
The nut passing through the center of the piston head distributes the clamping force over a larger area, reducing the risk of the mounting screw being pulled out of the plastic piston head body.
The integrated axial ball bearing allows the spring to rotate more freely during compression, reducing twisting and contributing to longer spring life.
The guide O-ring helps keep the piston head centered inside the cylinder and reduces unwanted contact with the cylinder wall. The main seal is provided by a separate sealing O-ring.
The locking nut distributes the clamping force of the screw over a larger area of the piston head. This reduces localized stress on the POM body and the risk of the screw being pulled out of the piston head.
The manufacturer recommends use with springs up to M150. In higher-performance builds, the other mechanically stressed gearbox components must also be appropriately rated.
According to the manufacturer, the AirsoftParts TECAFORM 2013 is designed for V2, V3 and V7 gearboxes. During installation, it is advisable to verify the correct operation of the complete piston assembly and its interaction with the cylinder and other components.
