AirsoftParts DURAL 2013 piston head is a CNC-machined component for AEG air seal systems, made from EN AW 6012 T6 duralumin with an electroless nickel-plated finish. In addition to the main sealing O-ring, the design also uses a guide O-ring that helps center the piston head inside the cylinder and reduces the risk of the metal head contacting the cylinder wall. Nine holes on the front direct air beneath the sealing O-ring during compression, expanding it against the cylinder wall and promoting effective sealing. The design also incorporates an axial ball bearing that allows the spring to rotate more freely during compression and reduces torsional stress. The rear section of the head is lightened to reduce the moving mass of the assembly. The manufacturer specifies use with springs up to M170 and compatibility with V2, V3 and V7 gearboxes. The piston head is made in the Czech Republic.
The CNC-machined EN AW 6012 T6 duralumin construction is designed according to the manufacturer for builds with springs up to M170 and offers high mechanical durability.
The separate guide O-ring helps keep the piston head centered inside the cylinder and reduces the risk of unwanted contact between the metal head and the inner cylinder wall.
The 9 front holes direct air beneath the sealing O-ring during compression, expanding it against the cylinder wall and helping to effectively seal the piston assembly.
The integrated axial ball bearing allows the spring to rotate more freely during compression, reducing twisting and contributing to longer spring life.
Electroless nickel plating creates a smooth surface layer while also protecting the surface of the CNC-machined duralumin component.
The guide O-ring is not primarily used as the main seal. Its purpose is to help center the metal piston head inside the cylinder and reduce the risk of unwanted contact between the head and the cylinder wall.
The manufacturer specifies M170 as the maximum recommended spring. When building a higher-performance gearbox, the other stressed components must also be appropriately selected for the load.
As the piston moves, air flows through the 9 holes on the front beneath the sealing O-ring. The pressure expands it towards the cylinder wall, promoting proper sealing during compression.
According to the manufacturer, the piston head is compatible with V2, V3 and V7 gearboxes. During installation, it is advisable to check the correct operation of the entire piston assembly and its interaction with the cylinder and other components.
