AirsoftParts silent piston head is a CNC-machined component for AEG air seal systems, made from EN AW 6012 T6 duralumin. Its main feature is a pneumatic brake that restricts the escaping airflow before the piston impacts the cylinder head, creating an air cushion. This cushions the final phase of piston movement, helping to reduce shot noise and dynamic shock transferred to the gearbox. The front features 9 holes through which air flows beneath the sealing O-ring during compression, expanding it against the cylinder wall. It also incorporates an axial ball bearing that allows the spring to rotate more freely during compression. The piston head weighs 11.6 g, has a polished surface and is specified by the manufacturer for V2 and V3 gearboxes. It can be combined with both the AirsoftParts silent cylinder head and CLASSIC cylinder head. Proper function requires professional installation and precise AoE adjustment with the pneumatic brake compressed and a clearance of 0.5–1 mm. The design is not intended for high RoF builds, and the manufacturer's limits for spring strength, firing mode and RoF must be observed.

How Does the Pneumatic Brake of the Silent Piston Head Work?
Before the piston fully impacts, the pneumatic brake restricts escaping air and creates an air cushion. This cushions the final phase of piston movement, helping to reduce noise and mechanical shock transferred to the gearbox.
Does the AoE Need to Be Adjusted During Installation?
Yes. The manufacturer explicitly requires correct AoE (Angle of Engagement) adjustment. It must be set with the pneumatic brake compressed so that a clearance of 0.5–1 mm remains between the piston head and cylinder head. Installation therefore requires appropriate technical knowledge.
Is the Silent Piston Head Suitable for High RoF?
No. The manufacturer does not recommend it for high-RoF guns. With an M140 spring, the recommended maximum in full-auto is 8 BB/s, and with an M120 spring it is 15 BB/s. With an M150 spring, only semi-auto fire is recommended for long service life.
Do I Have to Use a Silent Cylinder Head?
No. According to the manufacturer, the silent piston head can be combined with both the AirsoftParts silent cylinder head and the CLASSIC cylinder head. In both cases, correct adjustment of the entire assembly and AoE is essential.
